Following the October 7 attacks in Israel, fighting has continued in the country. In response, the Israeli Defense Force has worked to protect Israeli civilians from further attacks, and other reserve groups have been working to further keep Israeli citizens safe. One such group is the Inbar Unit, a reserve division of the Border Police in Israel. Its stated purpose is “to be a unique operational and cohesive unit within the Ministry of Defense that captures all its fighters, skills, network and abilities to continue contributing and serving the Israeli security services, community and the citizens of Israel'' and to “to preserve and provide peace and security to the residents of the State of Israel.”

It’s run by the Bazelet Association, which, according to them, was “established in 2008 by soldiers and commanders of the Shimshon undercover unit that operated in the Gaza Strip whose mission was to counter terrorism and contribute to national security. The association aims to preserve the unit's legacy and contribute to Israeli society through security and educational activities with the values of Zionism and leadership.”

The Inbar Unit is made up of veterans of special operative groups in Israel, such as the Duvdevan, Shimshon, and The Gideonim. One member of this unit is a famous Israeli actor named Tsahi Halevi. He played a member of Israel’s security forces in hit shows like Fauda and The Cops. He volunteered with police groups in Israel before but has since become a member of this Unit. He isn’t the only Israeli actor to volunteer to keep the citizens of Israel safe. Lior Raz and Idan Amedi are actors who have played similar roles to Halevi and have taken up the call to defend the citizens of Israel. Lior Raz wrote on X, “I headed down south to join hundreds of brave ‘Brothers in Arms’ volunteers who worked tirelessly to assist the population in the south of Israel. We were sent to the bombarded town of Sderot to extract two families.” Making a similar statement, Idan Amedi wrote, “no, this is not a scene from Fauda, this is real life. We are here to protect our children, families, and homes.”

The theme of these statements matches the sentiment of many of those defending Israel. The emphasis on protecting Israeli families is the main connection between the statements. Brave people from all over Israel and of different backgrounds have come together to protect their country.
